Welcome to PHYSICAL EDUCATION
At Thrumpton, we believe that Physical Education can make a significant contribution to a child’s emotional, intellectual and personal development; particularly their self-esteem.
All pupils have timetabled PE lessons each week through which we develop the six areas of activity as set out in the National Curriculum – Dance; Games; Gymnastics; Athletics; Outdoor and Adventurous activities; Swimming.
Children are given the opportunity to swim during KS2 and we aim for all pupils leaving the school to be able to swim at least 25m. All pupils also have the opportunity to complete the National Cycling Proficiency scheme in KS2.
P.E. lessons provide a variety of sports ranging from football, tag rugby, netball and hockey to athletics, rounders, gymnastics and dance.
Extra Curricular Sport
PE and Sport has always been popular at Thrumpton and this year interest has been particularly high. With that in mind, we have worked with the children to develop an after school programme which includes a variety of sports. After school PE clubs are run by Mrs Camish and Mrs Padgett. We have also been fortunate enough to source expertees from professional coaches in order to meet demand.
